WHY PERENNIAL RYEGRASS (PRG) SWARDS?

PRG swards are the foundation to achieving animal performance from grass.

Recent research studies from Teagasc Moorepark have clearly identified that swards containing less than 65% PRG should be reseeded. Farm profit is significantly depressed with reduced PRG content.

PRG Swards:

  • Are more nutrient efficient – more responsive to Nitrogen (+24%).
  • Have higher Dry Matter (DM) production – especially from February through to the end of May.
  • Enable increased carrying capacity & utilisation (3t DM = 0.8 cow/ha).
  • N.B. Reseeding cost returned within 2 years.
